in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman
whistles far and wee
and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring
when the world is
puddle-wonderful
the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and
wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing
from hop-scotch and jump-rope
and
it's
spring
and
the
goat-footed
balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee

when the world is puddle wonderful
that's what I'm talking about!
pictured is the stalk eyed fly, common to Cameroon.
Thanx Andromeda.
Funny, I read this poem somewhere else just last week! (of course, I can't recall where...must be that 'getting older' thing I keep hearing about) But I really like how an entire season can be compacted into so few lines and so few characters, with which the reader can instantly identify. (for the record, "mud-luscious" is one of the best words, ever)
