My show of recent abstract paintings at Bravin Lee Gallery http://www.bravinlee.com/ was reviewed in The New York Times by Roberta Smith. I love her phrase "visually scrumptious."
Douglas Florian: ‘Dawn Thieves’ (through May 5) In 24 works mostly from the past two years, this artist, who is also a poet and a writer-illustrator of award-winning children’s books, successfully shifts from (mostly) gouache on paper bags to oil on small wood panels. The visually scrumptious, jewel-colored results suggest a familiarity with Indian miniatures, Tibetan thangkas, Japanese calligraphy and several varieties of modern and post-modern abstraction, consummately assimilated, distilled and unleashed to joyful, freewheeling effect. Lovely review. I always like the sound of "distilled." You are an inspiration and I love how your work is play.
