Paul Klee, Cat and Bird, 1928, oil on canvas, MoMA
Today is the birthday of my favorite artist, Paul Klee (pronounced Clay).
Here we have quintessential cat, with oversized oval eyes, heart-shaped nose, and bird on the brain.
And for poetry friday a cat poem by Eleanor Farjeon:
Cats Sleep Anywhere
Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open draw, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don't care! Cats sleep anywhere.

And cats sleep in front the of the fire, in the clean laundry basket atop the just dried cloths, on a tray set with place mat and napkin, and if you've got something just new - well that will do too!
Great artwork to along with the whimsical poem! They are purrfect together!
Happy Birthday to Paul Klee.
He is one of my favorite artists too, and I feel lucky to have the same birthday:)

Klee in French means key.
I've missed your posts! Really, both as an emotion, and actually missed seeing the last few you've posted.
Love Klee, love cats!
Am going to recommend your Dinothesaurs book for the #santasbookbag meme on Twitter. :)
cool stuff... he's a wonderful artist... nice tribute this, on a birthday...
Thanks Teresa and Jon, but be sure to spell it Dinothesaurus, as in a dino and a thesaurus.
Not only did I spell it right on Twitter, but I also gave the link to the Amazon.com listing! =)
Happy 2010!
