Writing is Easy (Part 2)

Leonard Cohen on writing the song/poem Hallelujah:
"I filled two notebooks and I remember being in the Royalton Hotel [in New York], on the carpet in my underwear, banging my head on the floor and saying, 'I can't finish this song."'

I'm so glad he managed to finish it. And there's comfort in knowing that others have banged their heads on the carpet over their work.

And it's such a beautiful song, too.

I didn't know you had a blog, will stop by often!

Hallelujah for that. That song makes the skin on my arms crawl, the Emily Dickinson syndrome -- but on my arms. I am loving as of late, Ten New Songs. He's a tremendous writer. Gotta love 'im.
