For Poetry Friday here's Richard Wibur's first poem (along with his drawing) in his 1973 book
OPPOSITES (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich)

What is the opposite of nuts?
It's soup! Let's have no ifs or buts.
In any suitable repast
The soup comes first, the nuts come last.
Or that is what sane folks advise;
You're nuts if you think otherwise.

Today, 35 years after OPPOSITES appeared, what comes first depends on when you were reared. Most people don't even have time for instant soup, and if you did'nt know that, you're way out of the loop! Toady what comes first is the i-phone or the i-pod, and that's the truth, i-swear to God.

I love this poem, and now, I must find this book. Off to ABEbooks!

(P.S. - Thanks for setting me straight on gouache and gauche!)

Thanks Bill, but "Toady" comes last not first
